A warm welcome from our home to yours!
We are the Bradford family, breeders of Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers and Bouvier des Flandres! All eight of us take part in the joys and jobs of raising our dog families. We live in a country setting with lots of room for everyone to run and play and take delight in God’s creation! We adopted our first Wheaten Terrier about 13 years ago, raised a litter of puppies and got addicted! Snickers was our first Wheatie, and is still with us at the age of 14 as our beloved and honored matriarch! Later we broadened our horizons with the Bouviers, and we love them all. Our home is a our family station where we live, work, play, and do school. Everything is integrated together so we can all learn what it means to be enterprising, hard-working, character-building and fun-loving every day we are privileged to live! With 6 children, every meal is a party! Susanna is kid #1 in our family, and at 17 years old now, she helps extensively with the marketing, talking with customers and learning photography (you learn patience while photographing wiggly puppies) as well as developing computer skills and web site design. Charity (14) and Ethan (11) do many of the chores associated with our dogs and puppies. They also have a flock of chickens and guineas who are more than egg-layers, they are special pets, and it’s a daily circus managing so that the dogs and chickens do not become “integrated”, lest one group become “internalized” by the other…. So we have to let them out of doors to “free-range” at separate times, all the while keeping an eye out for hawks and bald eagles overhead.
Our three younger children, Jonathan (7), Laura (4), and Caleb (2) are vital team members whose favorite part of life with puppies is the socializing part. It’s not uncommon to see a chubby puppy cuddled in their arms or even dressed in doll clothes and in a doll stroller or wagon. When little friends come over, playing with puppies is usually on the agenda. How lucky are we?
As a family, we sing and do music together. Learning songs and then sharing them out and about in small public settings is part of our education, part of our family dynamic, and part of our heart to spread the word about God’s plan for families! We play brass handbells and string quartets. We find that in a world where many people seem fearful and disillusioned, the message of family togetherness speaks to the heart and gives hope! The world can be made a better place, one person and one family at a time (with at least one dog alongside.)
We also raise vegetable and flower gardens. We cherish the simple country life. We love our neighbors and community and our wonderful nation where we have the opportunity to follow our dreams and make them a reality!
We hope you will enjoy the pictures of our dogs and our family and we hope to hear from you soon!
